TMF Tribute to Dr Motsoko Pheko

The Patron of the TMF, President Thabo Mbeki, the Board, and the Staff join South Africans, and those further afield, in mourning the passing of Dr. Motsoko Pheko. A stalwart of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania, Dr. Pheko was an intellectual giant and a committed freedom fighter.

His life embodied the centuries-long pursuit of liberation and self-determination that defines the spirit of the African people. His unwavering commitment to Pan-Africanism inspired generations of leaders and activists.

Dr. Pheko’s wealth of knowledge, reflected in his numerous authored works, offered critical insights on history, theology, and the enduring struggle for true African liberation. He championed the recognition of indigenous knowledge systems.

With his passing, Africa has lost a true intellectual and a dedicated patriot. May his legacy continue to inspire and guide the ongoing work towards a just and equitable South Africa and a truly united Africa.
